Cavedude post jam update notes
Hi there! Monday and I have been working on an updated version of Cavedude addressing some issues with the original LD57 jam version. The jam version is still available for download, and we'll be leaving the web version on the jam version until the voting period ends. That means if you want the updated features listed below, you'll need to play on one of the downloadable builds. Here is a list of changes:
- Double jump will now be restored as long as you're within one pixel of a wall. This means you no longer need to push against the wall to restore your double jump.
- Removed some failsafes from Tricky Walljump 2 which were meant to help the player in case they failed to preserve their jump. Since this is no longer an issue, the failsafes aren't needed.
- Game can now be paused with ESC or the start button
- Can now restart your run by pausing and pressing R or RT
- Timer now displays hours
- Fixed a bug where the player could gain control early by skipping the tutorial with a specific timing
- Fixed a bug where the player could sometimes stand on the very edges of spikes without dying (sorry)
- Fixed a similar bug where you could restore your double jump on spikes by bumping your head on the corner
- Fixed a missing spike in Secret of the Blue Key
The windows version originally uploaded to itch and submitted to LD57 was actually based off a slightly outdated build. We didn't catch this until recently. Here are the changes the Windows build was missing that are now reflected in the post jam update:
- Assembly Line no longer uses the bonus palette
- Default volume has been raised
- A special character can now be spotted at various points in the game!
We currently don't have plans to do any more updates to this game, as we've started work on another project and would like to focus our time on that, but please let us know if you find any game-breaking bugs that need to be fixed.
